Most of our bulk materials, with the exception of mulch, are sold by the weight. The following are approximate weights for most of our bulk materials. Sand 1.10 - 1.25 tons (2,200 - 2,500 lb.) per cubic yard. Planting Mix 1 ton (2,000 lb.) per cubic yard. Lawn Dressing .90 tons (1,800 lb.) per cubic yard. Compost .40 tons (800 lb.) per cubic yard.

More DetailsProducts in this range are notably more compactible and suited for creating a base layer -such as Crusher Run, Screenings, Sand and Soil. For support of heavy vehicles – choose our #3 or #4 stone. For standard driveways – choose our #57 or #67. For more elaborate driveways – choose our 1/2" to 2" river gravel.
More DetailsTo avoid problems in backwashing, the recommended effective size of the underlying sand medium is 0.75 to 0.90 mm for anthracite densities of 1.45 to 1.65. The use of a single-medium coarse-sand filter is practiced in Europe. For example, sand with a size range of 0.9-1.5 mm and about 1.0 m depth has been used in surface-water treatment plants.

More DetailsWhat size gravel should I use for pathways and drives? The most common sizes we supply are 10mm and 20mm gravel. 10mm is usually best for pathways, as it is easy to walk on. The 20mm is best for drives, because the smaller 10mm gravel may get into the treads of car tyres.
More Details· Also the geometric mean bed grain size decreases, from about 16 mm at Rhine-km 640 to about 10 mm at Rhine-km 820 and 2–3 mm at Rhine-km 857.5 (Frings et al., 2014a). The strong downstream fining between Rhine-km 820 and 857.5 represents the onset of the gravel-sand transition zone of the Rhine at the border of the delta ( Frings, 2011 ).

More specifically, a #57 aggregate is the combination of #5 and #7 aggregates ranging from 1 to 0.19 inch. Chaney Enterprises'' aggregate materials meet the ASTM C 33 Standard and can be found at our various locations throughout ...
More DetailsIn most situations the nominal rock size is usually between 100 mm to 450 mm. Maximum rock size generally should not exceed twice the nominal (d 50) rock size, but in some cases a maximum rock size of 1.5 times the average rock size may be specified. Typical rock densities (s. r) are presented in Table 5. Table 5 – Relative density (specific ...

More DetailsOther Name(s): 40mm Shingle Consists of: A mixture of angular and rounded stones washed and passed through various screens to create a 40mm aggregate. Widely used in the construction industry as a drainage medium. Not suitable for driveways due to size. This product will vary in colour and shape depending on your location as it is sold for drainage and therefore colour is not an issue.
More Details40mm Shingle. Available from our Gill Mill & Duns Tew quarries, the 40mm Limestone Shingle is commonly used for land drainage, soakaways and filter drainage systems. 40mm Shingle is also used for vibropiling. Due to its attractive appearance and neutral colouring it is also widely used as a decorative aggregate for garden landscaping.

More DetailsTypically, the size of the transported sediment is fine sand (<1 mm) and smaller, because air is a fluid with low density and viscosity, and can therefore not exert very much shear on its bed. Bedforms are generated by aeolian sediment transport in the terrestrial near-surface environment.

More DetailsSize #57 is another of the more popular gravel sizes. This particular size of gravel ranges in diameter from 3/4th of an inch (1.9 centimeters) to 1 inch (2.54 centimeters) in diameter. This gravel is often used for paving walk or driveways, at it can be walked and driven on with relative ease.
More DetailsSize is an area where gravel and limestone diverge because limestone is a single-source product. This means limestone can be bought in everything from "crushed" limestone, which contains small stones of varying sizes, all the way up to large-cut flat pavers that are 24 inches by 36 inches.
More Details· The densities of rocks and minerals are normally expressed as specific gravity, which is the density of the rock relative to the density of water. This isn''t as complex as you may think because water''s density is 1 gram per cubic centimeter or 1 g/cm 3. Therefore, these numbers translate directly to g/cm 3, or tonnes per cubic meter (t/m 3).
More Detailspredominantly larger than 5 mm (0.2 in.) and generally between 9.5 mm and 37.5 mm (3⁄ 8 in. and 11⁄ 2 in.). Some natural aggregate deposits, called pit-run gravel, consist of gravel and sand that can be readily used in concrete after minimal processing. Natural gravel and sand are usually dug or dredged from a pit, river, lake, or seabed.

More Details· In conclusion, abrupt gravel-sand transitions and the absence of rivers with median bed-material sizes in the range of 1–5 mm can emerge due to a collapse of a river''s ability to transport sand as wash load where bed shear velocities drop below ~0.1 m/s—a collapse that is unlike any other size …
