Acetate is another manufactured cellulosic fiber made from the same raw material as rayon, cellulose, but by a different manufacturing process involving a greater degree of chemical modification. Acetate is available as staple or filament. Observed under a microscope, an acetate fiber shows a striated surface and a lobed cross-section.
